Biography

Olena Kovalenko was born in 1990 in a small town in southern Ukraine. She loved to draw since she was a child, but she didn’t consider it her calling. After high school, she went to university to study economics, but she soon realized that it wasn’t her path.

In 2012, Olena moved to Kyiv to attend art school. She began studying painting, drawing, and sculpture. At school, she met other young artists who shared her love of abstract art.

In 2016, Olena graduated from school and began exhibiting her work in galleries in Kyiv and Lviv. Her work immediately caught the attention of critics and collectors.

Olena works in the style of abstract realism. Her paintings are abstract representations of real objects and phenomena. She often uses bright colors and unusual shapes to create a sense of movement and energy.

Olena believes that art should be accessible to everyone. She strives to create paintings that will be interesting and understandable to people of all ages and social status.

Ideas and concepts

The natural world is the source of my inspiration. I am fascinated by its beauty and diversity, and I strive to capture it in my paintings.

I am drawn to the landscapes of my homeland, Ukraine, as well as to the natural world beyond Ukraine. In my paintings, I often explore the relationship between humans and the natural world, as well as the themes of change, transition, and the passage of time.

I use a variety of techniques in my work, including acrylic painting, watercolor, and collage. I often combine these techniques to create a unique and expressive effect. I am particularly interested in using color and light to create a sense of depth and perspective in my paintings. I believe that art should be accessible to everyone. I strive to create paintings that are both beautiful and thought-provoking.

Here are some specific examples of how I incorporate the natural world into my paintings:

In my painting “Summer moved on,” I depict a road winding through a forest of yellow trees. The painting captures the beauty and melancholy of the end of summer.
In my painting “Five,” I depict five figures standing in a circle in a dark and mysterious landscape. The painting evokes a sense of unease and foreboding.
In my painting “Reality,” I depict a street scene with houses and trees, but the scene is rendered in a distorted and surreal manner. The painting challenges the viewer’s perception of reality.

I hope that my paintings will inspire others to appreciate the beauty of the natural world and to connect with their own inner world.

My color is blue

I use the color blue extensively in my work because it is associated with the sky, the sea, and the natural world. It is also the color of peace and tranquility. I believe that blue is a calming color that can help viewers to relax and reflect.

In addition to its cultural significance, I also enjoy using blue in my paintings because it is a versatile color that can be used to create a variety of effects. For example, I can use blue to create a sense of depth and perspective, or I can use it to create a more serene and peaceful mood.

I hope that my use of the color blue in my paintings will help viewers to connect with the natural world and with their cultural heritage.

Light and Shadow

I use light and shadow extensively in my work to create a sense of depth and perspective. I also use them to create a sense of drama and emotion.

I believe that light and shadow are essential elements of art. They can be used to create a variety of effects, from realism to abstraction.

In my work, I often use light to represent the positive aspects of life, such as joy and hope. I use shadow to represent the negative aspects of life, such as sadness and despair.
